HOW TO MAKE 90* DEGREE BEND(ELBOW) ON 1/2" EMT?

LESSON NO. 9

UNIT:-    EMT How to make a 90* degree bend?

AIM:-      How to make a 90* degree bend (Elbow) on 1/2" EMT?

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:-   S.W.B.A.T  (Student will be able to)
  1. Define a 90* degree bend (Elbow).
  2. Know the required steps to make a 90* degree bend. 
  3. Make a 90* degree bend (Elbow). 
DEFINITIONS:-  90* Degree Bend (Elbow):-  A bend performed on a piece of tubing (Conduit) to change the direction from vertical to horizontal for the raceway.
STEPS:-
  1. Measure the distance between the starting point and the desired location to start the bend.
  2. Transfer this measurement to your tubing.
  3. Deduct 5" for 1/2" EMT.
  4. Place your tubing into your bender (shoe) with the deducted point (5") at the arrow on bender.
  5. Make sure to have the handle on bender leaning towards the starting point. 
  6. Step on the bender shoe and pull the handle towards you until the tip of the tubing is set to a vertical position off the floor.

HOW TO CONTROL A CEILING LAMP FROM 2 LOCATIONS?

UNIT:-    WIRING METHODS.

AIM:-      How to control a ceiling lamp from 2 locations?

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:-   S.W.B.A.T  (Student will be able to)
  1. Define a 3 way switch.
  2. Identify the terminals on a 3way switch. 
  3. Connect a lamp to be controlled from 2 locations using EMT raceway.
DEFINITIONS:-  3 WAY SWITCH :-    This is a controlling device, Which it is used for controlling loads from 2 two or more locations. It may be used for alternating the flow of power for two (2) loads as well.

HOW TO MAKE A 3 POINT SADDLE?

LESSON NO. 7

TOPIC:-    EMT.

AIM:-      How to make a 3 Point Saddle?

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:-   S.W.B.A.T  (Student will be able to)
  1. Define a 3 Point Saddle.
  2. Know the application for a 3 Point saddle. 
  3. Know the required to make a 3 Point saddle. 
  4. Make a 3 Point saddle.
DEFINITIONS:-  3 Point Saddle:-    It is a bend that we go over an existing round obstruction in most cases another electrical raceway. This bend consists of 3 bends, One at the center and two other bends at equal distance from the center bend, But in the opposite direction.
 STEPS :-
  1. Measure the distance of the starting point to the center of the obstruction. 
  2. Transfer this measurement on to your tubing (place a mark) this becomes your center point.
  3. For 1/2" EMT place on mark on your tubing 3 1/2" towards the left from your center mark (this becomes point X ).
  4. Repeat step 3 but towards the right from center (This becomes point Y).
  5. Make a 45* degree bend a center point of tubing by placing it at point "A" on bender. 
  6. Reversing the tubing make a 22.5* degree bend at point "X" on tubing and place it at point arrow on bender.
