HOW TO MAKE 90* DEGREE BEND(ELBOW) ON 1/2" EMT?

LESSON NO. 9

UNIT:-    EMT How to make a 90* degree bend?

AIM:-      How to make a 90* degree bend (Elbow) on 1/2" EMT?

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:-   S.W.B.A.T  (Student will be able to)
  1. Define a 90* degree bend (Elbow).
  2. Know the required steps to make a 90* degree bend. 
  3. Make a 90* degree bend (Elbow). 
DEFINITIONS:-  90* Degree Bend (Elbow):-  A bend performed on a piece of tubing (Conduit) to change the direction from vertical to horizontal for the raceway.
STEPS:-
  1. Measure the distance between the starting point and the desired location to start the bend.
  2. Transfer this measurement to your tubing.
  3. Deduct 5" for 1/2" EMT.
  4. Place your tubing into your bender (shoe) with the deducted point (5") at the arrow on bender.
  5. Make sure to have the handle on bender leaning towards the starting point. 
  6. Step on the bender shoe and pull the handle towards you until the tip of the tubing is set to a vertical position off the floor.
