HOW TO MAKE A BOX OFFSET BEND?

LESSON NO. 3

TOPIC:    EMT (Electrical Metallic Tools)

AIM:     How to make a Box offset bend?

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:     S.W.B.A.T. (Student will be able to)
  1. Define a box offset bend.
  2. Know the required steps to make a box offset bend.
  3. Make a box offset for 1/2" inch EMT.
DEFINITION:   BOX OFFSET BEND :-   It is a bend made on a piece of tubing at a box entry point. This bend is made to allow proper support to the tubing through it entire run. By keeping the tubing flush with the surface and rising up only at the desired K.O. entry point.

TOOLS:     A 1/2 inch EMT bender is to be used or a special offset bender.

STEPS: 
  1. Insert the tip of the tubing in the EMT bender. 
  2. Make a (15*) slight bend to the tubing.
  3. Make your bend to face down and re-inserted into the bender.
  4. By pass the 1st bend with the arrow on the bender and make your 2nd bend (15*). 
  5. Test your completed offset bend on a flush surface.
